About us
From the founders Nick Correll & Shane Carty’s dream
A Tractor Pull on Yorke Peninsula
The YP Classic & Vintage Tractor Pull Club began from humble origins in 2022. It was originally an event to coincide with the 140th anniversary of Price. The club focuses on preserving old machinery that was instrumental in developing the Yorke Peninsula before it is lost to scrap.
We wish to promote the Price community and district. Importantly this event supports and encourages younger generations to participate, which we have achieved with new registrations. These are reinvested into our future events.
How it started
“I was flicking through Facebook and stumbled across a John Deere tractor for sale with a 671 Detroit engine in it, and the advert said it has won many vintage tractor pulls. A few moments later, Nick and Kylie called in. I showed it to Nick, and we chatted about how it would be something fun to do. Anyway, they went home and I forgot about it, but Nick didn’t, and I think by lunchtime the next day, he had started building a weight transfer sled.
When Nick was about 80% through the (massive) build of the sled, we loaded up a few tractors and headed to our first tractor pull at Milang, where we learned a lot about vintage tractor pulling. With the Price 140th celebrations coming up, Nick did some long days and nights to finish the sled, and we decided to add our first tractor pull to the weekend’s events. A quick meeting was held, and it was decided the best way forward for a lot of reasons, mainly insurance was to form a club. So, The Yorke Peninsula Classic & Vintage Tractor Pull Club Inc. was formed and affiliated with the NHMA.
The Club has a young and active committee along with dozens of keen volunteers that all pitch in and make club events very successful.”
